My deepest passion has always been fuelled by a heart-felt need to show kindness and support to those who need it. Because of this, I have always invested my time and energy into something which produces tangible results.
That is why I am a trained Reiki practitioner. Because Reiki is for everyone, it meets you where you are, and helps you come back home to yourself…gently.
I have witnessed the profound, gentle effectiveness of this practice so many times. It’s not about faith; it’s about experience. But before you decide, allow me to provide some insight into what Reiki is and how it works.
Restoring the Flow
Reiki works directly with the body's biofield—your energetic blueprint that fundamentally influences your physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Reiki isn't 'woo-woo.' Studies show our bodies emit measurable electromagnetic fields which can be influenced. A practitioner acts a channel for this universal life energy, through light touch or hands hovering just above the body, they help rebalance disrupted or depleted energy patterns within the client.
Think of Reiki as restoring flow. Just as your blood carries oxygen and nutrients, your energy system carries vitality. When that flow is blocked, imbalance shows up as stress, fatigue, or dis-ease.
How Reiki Re-establishes Energetic Harmony:
Calming the Nervous System: It gently shifts the body into the parasympathetic state (rest and digest). This is crucial because the parasympathetic system's main purpose is to conserve energy and promote maintenance and recovery functions when the body is at rest or feeling safe.
Supporting Innate Self-Repair: It helps unlock the body's built-in, natural mechanisms for restoration and self-repair.
What to Expect: Common Reported Experiences
While everyone’s experience is unique, people often describe the following sensations during a Reiki session:
A deep meditative state or feeling of profound calm.
Physical sensations like warmth, tingling, or waves of energy moving through the body.
Feeling lighter, as if a weight has been lifted.
Emotional release (tears, laughter, or a sense of deep peace).
Vivid imagery, colours, or visions behind closed eyes.
A powerful sense of being 'held' or supported.
Waking up refreshed after a short sleep during the session.
Subtle yet lasting shifts that continue for days afterward.
Ultimately, Reiki is less about belief and more about experience. Your body already knows how to restore itself; this gentle practice simply creates the conditions for that to happen.
