Why Reiki?

Understanding Reiki and the Benefits

Reiki is a versatile, non-invasive holistic practice that supports the body’s natural ability to heal and maintain balance. It addresses the person as a whole and because it works at a fundamental level, it is beneficial for almost any concern - from physical discomfort and recovery to emotional clarity and general wellbeing. It is a gentle way to support yourself through whatever you are navigating in life.

For many of our clients, the most profound benefit of Reiki is its ability to address the physical and mental impact of significant stress and anxiety.

Support for the Body's Natural Healing

By lowering the ‘noise’ of daily stress, you allow your system to focus on its own innate ability to repair and maintain health. Reducing high cortisol levels leads the body to regulate inflammatory responses, which often results in reduced joint pain, muscle soreness, and a stronger immune system.

When You Feel Overwhelmed

When you are navigating life’s more difficult challenges, you might feel overwhelmed by daily pressures or just so very tired but unable to truly rest. As practitioners, our role is to understand what your nervous system is communicating and to provide Reiki to help enable it to reset.

Your nervous system has two primary states which govern how you respond to the world:

  • The Sympathetic State (Fright or Flight): Although a necessary function, when it remains active for too long due to stress and anxiety, it leads to overwhelm. In this situation, your body is experiencing it as if you were having a genuine physical response to perceived danger.

  • The Parasympathetic State (Rest and Digest): This is your body's natural recovery mode. It is only in this state that your heart rate slows, your blood pressure lowers, and your body can focus on repair, immune support, and mental clarity. It can also promote restful sleep to aid recovery.

Reiki acts as a bridge to move you from a state of tension into a state of restorative rest. In our sessions, we use Reiki to encourage your nervous system to 'switch' from the sympathetic to the parasympathetic state, thereby allowing your system to self-regulate and return to its natural balance.
